Pearson Longman organised a party to celebrate the fact that the fourth (brand new) edition of The Practice of English Language Teaching won the Duke of Edinburgh English Speaking Union 2007 Book award. Katy Wright, the book’s publisher, and David Cato, the marketing manager collected the award from the Duke of Edinburgh at the end of October (because I was in Asia at the time). The party was a chance to celebrate the contribution that so many people made to the book’s success – publishers, editors, designers, film company and film editors. Everyone had a good time, helped by the fabulous playing of the Scintillo String Quartet. If anyone wants really good music at their UK party – or party anywhere else, for that matter - they’re really worth contacting.
