Deborah Cameron
Deborah Cameron
Writer, linguist, gender studies guru
I first met Debbie Cameron when she joined the board of trustees at International House (where I was already a serving member). She immediately impressed me (and continues to do so) with her fierce intelligence, her wit and the clarity of her arguments. These characteristics are, in my opinion, clearly on show in her latest book The Myth of Mars and Venus, which takes on writers and academics who insist on gender difference being the determiner of how human beings talk (and behave). Steven Poole, in the Guardian newspaper and Ed Caesar in the Sunday Times, have written lengthy reviews of Debbie’s book.
