Music

Music is a major part of my life, both as a keen listener, and as a performer. I sang in choirs for more than 10 years as a child and at school I played guitar in a pop band and the trumpet in various groups.

At university I concentrated on the guitar and played in the university folk club, and in folk clubs around East Anglia. I made a record of my own songs (Idionsyncratics and Swallows’ Wings) soon to be re-released by an independent record label.

After university I spent two years living precariously as a singer-songwriter, playing in folk clubs and busking to earn a living. Later in Mexico I gave a number of concerts, singing and playing my own songs, British and American folk, and many Mexican songs which I came to love (you can listen to recordings of four of my songs from around this time).

I am lucky enough to live in Cambridge UK where there are many opportunities for both listening and performing. I play the viola in the Cambridge Philharmonic Society and the Ely Sinfonia. If you are ever in the Cambridge area when we are playing, why not come along to one of our concerts?

I am currently collaborating with musician Steve Bingham in a words-and-music show called Touchable Dreams. We are performing around the UK, and soon, we hope, in other countries too.
